Kozak consensus sequence

The Kozak consensus sequence, Kozak consensus or Kozak sequence, is a sequence which occurs on eukaryotic mRNA and has the consensus (gcc)gccRccAUGG, where R is a start codon (AUG), which is followed by another 'G' (Kozak, 1987).
